Lewis, Associate Professor of Counseling and Educational Development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of mental health counseling.

With a specialization in motivational interviewing, mental health, addiction, and adolescent and adult counseling, Dr. Lewis is responsible for diagnosing addictions, supervising interns, conducting research and teaching. He also serves as president of the International Association of Addictions & Offender Counselors, a division of the American Counseling Association, and considers becoming an associate professor to be his greatest professional accomplishment. Dr. Lewis was honored in 2005 by the International Association of Addictions & Offender Counselors with the Exemplary Research Award and also received the Judith A. DeTrude Scholarship Award and David K. Brooks Professional Service Award.

Dr. Lewis has published various works focusing on alcohol abuse among students and is currently working on a book on counseling techniques. He has presented many papers on counseling at the annual conferences organized by the American Counseling Association. Dr. Lewis believes that different aspects of professional counseling are important issues facing his profession today.

A national certified counselor, Dr. Lewis received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Kent State University, his Master's Degree in Counseling from Heidelberg College and his Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in psychology from Ohio Northern University. He stays current with the trends in his profession by enrolling in continuing education courses. He acts as an editorial board member of the Journal of College Counseling, the Journal of Individual Psychology, the Journal of Addictions & Offender Counseling and Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development Journal.
