Tom Marsik, PhD, Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

He now serves the College of Rural and Community Development at the University of Alaska as the head of the sustainable energy program and as an associate professor in sustainable energy.

He now serves the College of Rural and Community Development at the University of Alaska as the head of the sustainable energy program and as an associate professor in sustainable energy.

An affiliated researcher for Alaska Center for Energy and Power, Dr. Marsik has been a member of numerous energy efficiency groups, including Governor Bill Walker's transition team and its Consumer Energy Subcommittee. He has also served as the past president of Fairbanks Biodiesel nonprofit organization, and was the project champion for the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design facility in Bristol Bay.

Dr. Marsik and his wife, Kristin Donaldson, are world-record holders for building the world's most air-tight home. He used his engineering skills and research to build the world's tightest residential building using the technique described as "a box within a box." Dr. Marsik has made a significant impact on our understanding and use of sustainable energy through his theoretical and applied research. He continues to contribute to his industry and has published numerous articles on energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Recognized as a reputable member of his field, the Alaska Journal of Commerce named Dr. Marsik as one of Alaska's Top Forty Under 40 for the year 2016. Dr. Marsik has a loving wife and a three-year old daughter who inspires him to keep working towards developing a sustainable future.
