    STATEN ISLAND, NY, November 4, 2009 /Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Toniann J. Gelardo, Clinical Psychologist for Not-for-Profit, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in mental healthcare.

Inspired by her experiences growing up with a mentally retarded cousin, Ms. Gelardo decided to devote her career to helping people with special needs. She has since built a reputation as an expert in behavioral therapy, bringing five years of professional experience to non-profit organizations that specialize in psychotherapy and behavioral therapy. As a clinical psychologist, she works with special-needs patients, with a particular focus on those exhibiting difficult behaviors. Ms. Gelardo finds deep personal fulfillment in giving a leg up to people who need it the most and is proud to be associated with organizations that take in everyone, regardless of how severe their behavior may be. She attributes her success to hailing from a loving family, which has left in her a desire to give the same to others, and her mentor, Dr. Joseph Coppolo.

Ms. Gelardo is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Education, Medicine and Behavioral Therapy at Northcentral University. She earned her Master of Science in Psychology in 2009 from the University of Phoenix and her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Social Studies in 2005 from Metropolitan College of New York. Ms. Gelardo's goals for the next five years include obtaining her psychotherapy license, establishing her own practice, and becoming a part-time university professor.
