Following the Costa Rican Surfing Federation's (FSC) confirmation that JacoŽ, Costa Rica is the chosen location for the International Surfing Association's (ISA) World Surfing Games (WSG), the Costa Rican Development Corporation seized the opportunity to be a part of this popular event. The WSG is the world's most publicized and prestigious surfing tournament. The 2009 WSG is scheduled to begin on July 31, 2009, about one week after California's U.S. Open surfing tournament ends, allowing ample time for the competitors to travel from the United States to Costa Rica. With the combination of a large number of tournament athletes, millions of viewers worldwide, and Costa Rica's already flourishing tourist trade, Costa Rican Development Corporation can expect to reach a massive audience with its advertising at the 2009 Billabong World Surfing Games.
