Toshiro Kuribayashi Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Kuribayashi has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the medical industry

FUKUOKA, JAPAN, September 08, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Toshiro Kuribayashi a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Kuribayashi celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Kuribayashi is director of the Kuribayashi Clinic in Fukuoka, where he serves as a physician with a specialty in cardiology and internal medicine. As of 1994, he has also taken on the role of guest professor with his alma mater, the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. Dr. Kuribayashi is the co-author of "Developmental Mechanism of Heart Disease" released in 1995, and a prolific contributor to a number of American medical publications.

Born in Kurume in the Fukuoka prefecture of Japan to Tetsuji and Yaeko Kuribayashi in 1945, Dr. Kuribayashi traveled to the prestigious Kyoto University to earn a BS in 1967. He went on to study at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine to earn a medical doctorate in 1976, and married Chizuko Takakura in April of that year. The couple had two children, Yuko and Yoshiko.

Dr. Kuribayashi joined Kyoto Prefectural University as an assistant professor, earning a PhD in 1987. He became associate professor in 1990 and accepted a position with the Red Cross Hospital in Kyoto, Japan in 1994, concurrently teaching as a guest professor. In 1996, he became director of the Kuribayashi Clinic in Fukuoka. Dr. Kuribayashi was invited to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland as a guest researcher from 1991 to 1992. He has been a frequent contributor to the American Journal of Physiology and the American Journal of Cardiology, among a number of publications. Dr. Kuribayashi has also devoted time toward the Japanese Circulation Society, the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japan Medical Association, and the Fukuoka Medical Association. He has been granted research funding by the Japanese government in 1986, 1990 and 1993 to enable research.

Dr. Kuribayashi established a strain of rats as the genetic animal model of congenital heart disease, which spontaneously develop tetralogy of Fallot, common atrioventricular canal, pulmonary valve dysplasia, and/or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The embryonic studies on these and further teratogen-treated rats demonstrated that the reduced development of the ductus arteriosus can lead to various cardiac anomalies, isolated or in association, through pressure overload on the embryonic right ventricular system: e.g., subaortic ventricular septal defect as a vent from the right ventricle to the aorta, abnormal myocardial architecture favorable for the generation of pressure in the right ventricle, etc.

For achievements in the medical field, Dr. Kuribayashi was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who in the World, as well as two volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Industry and two volumes of Who's Who in Asia in 2012 and 2007. He enjoys horticulture, bicycling, and mountain climbing.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Kuribayashi has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
