/24-7PressRelease/ - BETHANY, OK, June 18, 2008 - TrickConTreat 2008 will play host to the first annual FlickConTreat Movie Making Marathon, co-sponsored by IAO Gallery. Contestants, whether teams or individuals, will complete a 7 minute or less short film that features a theme, a prop, and a character, all to be announced on Friday, October 3rd. A portion of the footage must be shot at the convention.â â
Participants have from 2pm Friday, when registration opens, through midnight Saturday. The movie must be turned in on DVD. Entries will be screened Sunday, October 5th at TrickConTreat, and a prize will be awarded to each category winner and Judge's Choice winner. Winning flicks will be screened Saturday, October 18th at the Video Exchange at IAO Gallery, 811 N Broadway, OKC. Categories include Animation, Juvenile (under 18), Student, and Advanced. There is no extra charge for the contest, but all participants must be paid members of the convention.â
TrickConTreat is a fan-run charitable convention focused on Halloween and the culture surrounding the holiday. The convention works each year to make all aspects of Halloween accessible to kids and adults, fans and haunt industry professionals. 2008 activities include movie viewings with local and national horror hosts, Oklahoma's first hearse show, readings with local authors, an exhibition hall with unique Halloween-themed merchandise and games, makeup and costuming workshops, and much more.
