/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, February 08, 2007 - Set for May 8th, 2007 the soon-to-be release DVD entitled "Lord Help Us" previewed during the weekend of February 1st - 3rd at the Texas Black Film Festival in Downtown Dallas. The Tri-Seven Entertainment film received Honorable Mention among many great films seeking to seize the opportunity to display works that express the African-American experience. The Lone Star state will soon be joined by the Lights of Hollywood as the film with distribution by Image Entertainment moves on to screen at the AMC-15 Magic Johnson Theater in Los Angeles, CA during the Pan African Film & Arts Festival on Saturday, February 17th at 1:30 PM.
"The film was very well received and complimented highly," noted David Smalls, Texas Black Film Festival director. "... points of view depicted were quite impressive to audiences."
Texas has been known throughout time as the state of cowboys and native Indians, but it is Hollywood who has made their claim to fame. In the age of technology and a world of increasing loss of faith, Hollywood's manifest destiny is fast approaching to lead audiences back to wholesome family entertainment.
"Lord Help Us" is an urban inspirational comedy film written and directed by former child actor, Shavar Ross. Fondly known for his role as 'Dudley' on the 1980's television classic "Diff'rent Strokes", opposite Gary Coleman as 'Arnold', Ross is no stranger to wholesome family entertainment. The film is a first look from behind the lens for the actor and a premiere feature project as CEO of Tri-Seven Entertainment, where Ross stands as producer and writer/director for the film.
"Lord Help Us" stars newcomer Bill Toliver, Margaret Avery (The Color Purple), Nadia Turner (American Idol), Joe Clair (B.E.T.) and Amentha Dymally with special appearances by Debra Wilson (MADtv), Omar Gooding, Al Jarreau, Tico Wells and more.
