CHAPEL HILL, NC, February 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TutorJam, an online tutoring company, announces rapid growth for the quarter ending January 30, 2009, with an 85% increase in paid tutoring subscriptions for the quarter.

With parents turning to TutorJam's online tutoring services for after-school K-12 tutoring for their children, TutorJam is experiencing dozens of new account sign-ups daily. Students connect to a live tutor via TutorJam's multimedia learning platform and get one-on-one instruction from a certified tutor in math, science and English. "TutorJam delivers an exceptional value to parents who are increasingly seeking more affordable tutoring options for their children" said Nathan Arora, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for TutorJam. "Whether in a recessionary climate or otherwise, you really can't beat an unlimited tutoring model at $99 per month...good value will always come out ahead."

Data published by the Brookings Institute in a report titled, Trends in Math: The Importance of Basic Skills, found that half of U.S. 9-year olds cannot multiply or divide whole numbers properly and half of 13-and 17-year olds cannot compute correctly with fractions. "There are students who for some reason got left behind," said TutorJam founder Dr. Ajit Singh, who is also a professor at the University of Waterloo. "They cannot clearly state that they are not 'getting it.' And our online tutoring service is right in the privacy of their homes, so kids can just open up and learn."

TutorJam continues to expand its tutoring services through partnerships with other education companies and by reaching out to school districts and libraries. TutorJam is also planning to release version 2.0 of its MyTutorJam platform which includes multi-way video, scalable back-end session administration and educational games aimed at young learners.
