Twelve Top Holiday Money Saving Tips for 2010

Everyone likes to get the best value for their money so, to help you get your 2010 holidays off to a great start, here are a few of our favourite ways for making the most of your holiday cash this summer.

KINGSTON-UPON, ENGLAND, April 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 1. Book flights now. All airlines have now released their summer 2010 seats so, to be sure of getting the cheapest fares, book now. Prices are almost guaranteed to go up the closer you get to your departure.

2. Avoid weekend travel. Flights tend to be more expensive and the airports are busier.

3. Avoid school holidays. If you're not tied to term dates, then travelling at other times will invariably be cheaper and less crowded. Remember too that UK dates won't be the same as in other countries - ask us if you want details, we'll either have on file, or can find out!

4. Look outside of the Eurozone. Turkey isn't in the Eurozone and still offers excellent value. So does the Czech Republic - two great cycling choices - and, for walkers, Hungary.

5. Choose off-the-beaten-track destinations. Taking a holiday in one of France or Italy's lesser-visited regions, such as Puglia or the Pyrenees, and you'll find things much cheaper than in the Euro tourist hot spots.

6. Book any extras now. Things such as airport hotels, car parking or car hire usually work out much cheaper when booked in advance using our preferential rates. Plus you have a much better chance of getting exactly what you want.

7. Hire a diesel car. In France, for example, diesel is around 15% cheaper than petrol - can make a big difference if planning to cover a lot of miles.

8. Make sure you have the right travel insurance - not just for when you'll be away, but also to cover should you have to cancel at any point between booking and travelling.

9. Get an EHIC card to take advantage of free or low-cost medical treatment throughout Europe.

10. Check specific airline rules. Charges for luggage, checking-in, paying by credit card and eating/ drinking on board vary enormously between carriers. Make sure you take these into account when selecting how to travel.

11. Shop around for the best credit card. Consider whether you'll be wanting to use your card to pay for purchases, or/and to withdraw cash from ATM's, and see which card will work out the cheapest.

12. Protect the price of your holiday with our No Surcharge Guarantee. For just GBP20 per person, we guarantee that the price we quote at the time of booking will not increase and, should it reduce, we'll refund the difference.
