Twitter Party is The Social Network Version of a Happening

Tweets and Treats make for great fun courtesy of Viva Swag and Daily Dose of Style

GLENDALE, CA, October 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Back in the Hippie Days a Happening was a guerrilla style event, an impromptu and spontaneous demonstration of love, joy and fun. With little or no advance notice, a local park would fill up with freaks and friends. Amidst Frisbee tossing and music, advertisers showed up with free stuff to give away...from food to tie-dyed Ts, cosmetics to goodie bags, a Happening was the zany social network of its day.

Fast forward to 2009.

Parks have been replaced with social networking and the gatherings are a tad less impromptu, but the latest reincarnation of a Happening is still one big party: a Twitter Party. The advertisers are still showing up with free stuff, and the party-goers share in the fun by tweeting, re-tweeting, and hopefully re-tweeting yet again -en masse, as they tweet to compete for giveaway loot.

From 8-10 pm Eastern on Thursday, October 15, 2009, there is a huge Twitter Party happening, hosted by www.vivaswag.com (zany), www.dailydoseofstyle.com (tie-dye 2.0), www.fashiontribes.com (Frisbee- and fashion-loving) and www.momgenerations.com (love, joy and fun). You are cordially invited. To join the party, ya gotta know the right hashtag - shhhh, for you only, it's #DAILYDOSESTYLE.

Gifts donated by advertisers will be awarded every few minutes. Thousands of dollars of products include three $500 Talbot shopping sprees, a $500 Intermix splurge, handbags, cosmetics, lingerie, jewelry, fragrances, beauty products, gift certificates and two fabulous Grand Prizes: A huge Pamper Yourself Beauty Basket and a personal wardrobe and image consultation with celeb fashion editor and stylist Kendall Farr.

Party goers are encouraged to do a little homework beforehand. Winning some of the prizes requires a visit to each of the host sites so Tweeters can be ready to answer some questions (hint you'll find clues at the sites).

Pete Sokoloff, CEO of Viva Swag, is ready for a crowd to show up at the party. "We're thrilled to be co-hosting this party. We'll be giving away lots of gifts from forward thinking retailers who share our excitement about tapping into the power of people connecting up with each other. Together we're expanding the dimensions of social media into the Brave New World of Fashion and Shopping 2.0."
