UC Irvine Extension Offers Four New Courses to Meet Demand for Certified Internal Auditor Training
The University of California, Irvine Extension today announced it has partnered with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) to meet the growing demand for Certified Internal Auditor (CIA ) training.

    TUSTIN, CA, September 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The University of California, Irvine Extension today announced it has partnered with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) to meet the growing demand for Certified Internal Auditor (CIA ) training. Four new instructor-led CIA preparation courses, all based on The IIA's CIA Learning System , will be offered beginning in the fall 2009 quarter.
"Through this partnership, UC Irvine Extension will equip local accounting and auditing professionals to meet the needs of internal auditors and employers in our region," says Lori Munoz-Reiland, director of business, management, legal, and corporate solutions for UC Irvine Extension. "Certified internal auditing plays a vital role in the business community and these courses will provide top-quality training that is easily accessible."
The CIA designation is the only globally accepted certification for internal auditors and remains the standard by which individuals demonstrate their competency and professionalism in the internal auditing field. In response to increased market demand for premier-quality CIA exam preparation materials and courses, UC Irvine Extension will be offering several courses this fall. Taught by an experienced CIA instructor, the following courses are interactive and Web-based:
• The Internal Audit Activity's Role in Governance, Risk, and Control: Saturdays, Sept. 19 & 26
This two-day review session will cover proper compliance standards with the IIA; risk and control knowledge elements; establishing a risk-based plan to determine the priorities of the internal audit activity; plan engagements; and the nature of internal audit work in risk management, control and governance.
• Conducting the Internal Audit Engagement: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18
This two-day review session will address how to conduct specific engagements and how to monitor engagement outcomes. It will also cover fraud knowledge elements and specific engagement tools.
• Business Analysis and Information Technology: Friday-Sunday, Nov. 13-15
This three-day review will cover business processes; financial accounting and finance; managerial accounting; regulatory, legal and economic issues; and information technology.
• Business Management Skills: Saturday, Dec. 12
This one-day review session will cover strategic management, global business environments, organizational behavior, management skills and negotiating.
