UCLA, University of Florida, Fresno Pacific, and Wesleyan University All Partner with FrontDoorSoftware to Provide College Students and Faculty with Laptop Theft Prevention and Tracking Software

FrontDoorSoftware has added University of California Los Angeles, University of Florida, Fresno Pacific University and Wesleyan University to its "Safe Campus" client base to help students protect their laptops against theft on campus.

EVERGREEN, CO, August 20, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- FrontDoorSoftware Corporation's "Safe Campus" program that allows students and faculty on campus free access to valuable laptop theft prevention and tracking software, has recently added four prestigious universities to its growing client base. The new universities include University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Florida, Fresno Pacific University and Wesleyan University.

"We're thrilled to have partnered with these universities to help make their campuses safer," said President of FrontDoorSoftware Corporation, Carrie Hafeman. "More and more universities are joining with us to take preventative measures to not only help protect university computers and valuable information, but student owned laptops as well. Hundreds of thousands of college students can now protect their laptops through their universities."

Students and faculty at the universities are encouraged to enroll their personal and university-issued laptops in the "Safe Campus" program - a program developed by FrontDoorSoftware Corporation that allows universities who order a site license to offer protection to every laptop and computer on campus simply by adding a download link on their university website and encouraging students and faculty to install the software on their computers.

The U.S. Department of Education has stated that more than 24,000 cases of burglary were reported on college campuses in 2009, with more than 12,000 occurring in residence halls alone, making college campuses the third most common location for laptop theft. According to the 2010-2011 Computer Crime and Security Survey performed by the Computer Security Institute (CSI), 34 percent of all computer crimes were reported as laptop thefts. Additionally, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) estimates that one out of every 10 laptops will be stolen within 12 months of ownership and 97 percent of those will never be recovered.

FrontDoorSoftware's "Safe Campus" program makes it incredibly easy to offer protection to the entire campus at once. When a school or university signs up for the "Safe Campus" program, they are provided with their own FrontDoorSoftware URL or weblink to share with students and staff members. This URL provides each individual with the instructions for uploading the software to their computer and enlisting them in the "Safe Campus" program with a free 4-year theft prevention and recovery license.

By helping to protect laptops and information campus wide, faculty and students can focus on what they do best, whether it is learning new courses, teaching students, or developing important research.
