/24-7PressRelease/ - July 02, 2008 - With Glastonbury blighted by slow ticket sales and the notorious British weather looming over the rest of this year's UK festival circuit, many regulars are opting for guaranteed sunshine and the chance to combine partying with their annual holiday at one of Europe's top festivals, Jet2.com data reveals.
With European festivals becoming increasingly popular, booking data and customer enquiries from Jet2.com have revealed an increase in demand for flights to this year's Benicassim Festival near Valencia (17 - 20 July), Sziget Festival in Budapest (12 - 18 August)and Montreux Jazz Festival in Geneva (04 - 19 July).
The new generation of festival goers - the 'Trevellers' - are festival regulars who have grown disillusioned by the often mud-soaked UK festival scene and are looking for new experiences coupled with guaranteed dry, sunny weather.
Money worries and the on-going gloom of the credit crunch have also had an effect with partygoers looking to combine their festival experience with their annual summer holiday this year.
Jonathan Alcock, Marketing Manager at Jet2.com comments: "The UK's festivals are amongst the best in the world but this year it seems that festival regulars are looking for something different.
"Europe's festivals not only offer top musical acts but they also offer warm weather, an escape from the British rain and the chance to take an extended break in a European destination, for the new breed of 'trevellers'.
"Our data reveals that it is Europe's top festivals such as the Benicassim Festival in Spain where party goers are headed this year. With flights to festival destinations available from Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Blackpool and Belfast, there is still time to be part of the new trevelling scene!"
