This new Hydrex underwater technology saves ship owners and operator's money and time, both a valuable commodity in the current economic conditions.
"Hydrex has developed an entirely new method enabling permanent repairs of rudders without drydocking the ship," says Martin Pauwels, Sales Manager, Hydrex world headquarters in Belgium. "Permanent rudder repairs were hitherto not possible and ships had to drydock when a major defect was found. Our new underwater ship repair technology includes newly designed equipment that is lightweight and can be mobilized very rapidly in our special flight containers. Therefore this new service is now available worldwide."
Major defects on rudders very often cause unscheduled drydocking of ships. The new underwater technology designed by our technical department allows engineers, welders and inspectors to perform their tasks in dry conditions. Class approved permanent repairs in-situ, without moving the ship, are now possible and commercial operations can continue. Steel repairs and replacements can also be performed and pintle and bushing defects can be solved without the loss of time and money associated with drydocking.
The equipment can be mobilized within hours to any port in the world. It is available at the Hydrex headquarters in Antwerp and at the offices in Tampa, FL, USA, Algeciras, Spain, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, India and Port Gentil, West Africa.
