If we look back at the beginning of President Obama's term, in February 2009 first-time unemployment claims reached a 26-year high at 667,000 applications per week, a total of 2,668,000 for the month. From February 2009 to October 2012, first-time unemployment claims have fallen by over 1 million per month, from 2,668,000 to 1,356,000, reports Gold Price.

Arthur McGuire, Vice President of Gold Price says "Numbers don't lie, and even though the numbers are still unacceptably high, one must admit that the improvement is dramatic." McGuire adds "I'm eager to see if the improvement is enough of a gain to win President Obama another term in these still difficult and turbulent times."
