Che Guevara - Revolutionary and Icon
V&A (until 28 August 2006)

/24-7PressRelease/ - YORK, UK, July 20, 2006 - One of the world's most famous iconic images is the Korda portrait of Che Guevara. Now a new web site to mark the associated V&A exhibition is asking visitors to upload images of their own examples of Che.

Only recently launched by digital agency unit9, there are already a plethora of fascinating, beautiful, reactive and tongue-in-cheek interpretations captured from all around the world.

From various Che-alikes - to a knitted monkey sporting a Che Guevara t-shirt to the football player Diego Maradona's Che tattoo, a raft of imaginative submissions is already piling in.

Sandra Dartnell, Producer at unit9 says,

"This web site aims to complement the exhibition, exploring the universal appeal of this iconic image. The creative response is summed up as street culture focused, giving emphasis to the exhibition as a collection of maverick items. This is in line with the exhibits themselves and the 'Your Che' interactive user gallery at the heart of the site. As well as the content that explains the appeal of the image and the man, modern museum audiences want to be able to get involved. The 'Your Che' section enables this by allowing visitors to upload their own Che images to the gallery, making their own statements with captions".

The web site also features Podcasts from designers, art historians and curators discussing the most reproduced image in the history of photography. Other site sections include Curator's Intro, Online Ticketing, Shop, Che Exhibition Events, Visitor Info and a Competition to win a holiday to Cuba.

The web site is fully accessible and the Che Guevara Revolutionary and Icon exhibition runs until 28 August 2006.
