/24-7PressRelease/ -- UNITS Mobile Storage of San Francisco East Bay, an industry leader in door-to-door mobile storage, has donated a portable storage UNIT to support the Open Heart Kitchen in time for the Holidays. The donation is a part of ongoing philanthropic efforts by UNITS in the Tri-Valley community.
Units Mobile Storage found in 2008 that they could be the perfect solution to Open Heart Kitchen's storage problem, making it a no brainer to help out again this holiday season. With a large additional space to store incoming food, the kitchen can maximize donations this winter.
UNITS' donation last year saved the Open Heart Kitchen thousands of dollars in food and storage cost. The sheer number of donations exceeded all expectations, and a place to store them was crucial. With the current economic change in the Tri- Valley job market, their programs are serving more and more unemployed and underemployed families struggling to make ends meet.
"UNITS' generous donation will help feed an enormous number of people" says Linda McKeever, Executive Director of the Open Heart Kitchen. "By using a storage unit for food collection now, we will be able to provide meal service and food for families for several months ahead. We're so thrilled to have the continued support of the UNITS team."
The Open Heart Kitchen's mission is to offer hot nutritious meals to hungry people in need in the Tri-Valley area. The kitchen is collecting and storing non-perishable food items during the busy holiday season at the serving site: 460 North Livermore, Livermore CA 94550.
By taking advantage of donated food and supplies, Open Heart Kitchen is able to keep the overall cost of the programs at a minimum and provide that much needed safety net against hunger in the Tri- Valley.
"Everyone, including us, understands how tough the holiday season can be if you are struggling or unemployed," says Topp. "We just hope this donation to the Open Heart Kitchen will go a long way to help provide a safety net against hunger here in the Tri- Valley."
