modernist architecture podcast

Guests include movie star and modernist homeowner Kelly Lynch, architecture critic of Vanity Fair Paul Goldberger, acclaimed cellist Joe Kwon, a variety of realtors from around the US and several very articulate preservationists. The first three podcasts are available now and there will be a new one every two weeks.

Be forewarned: this is not academic, heady, precious conversation.
It is fun, irreverent (sometimes), casual, lively, amusing, informative and personal.
Above all, it is accessible.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINE MODERNIST HOUSES

North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) is a non-profit preservation and education organization devoted to advancing knowledge and awareness of modernist residential design through its three-fold mission:
- To document of modernist houses and architects
- To preserve mid-century modernist houses
- To promote new Modernist houses.

The organization's website, www.modernist houses, is the largest open digital archive for Modernist houses in America.

The site features over 6500 Modernist houses, 275 architects, and 17,500 photos. With over 16,000 images and videos, the site also contains the largest open digital archive of houses by Modernist masters such as Wright, Neutra, Schindler, Lautner, Koenig, and others.

The organization has filmed nearly 30 original video interviews with North Carolina architects, all available online, as well as special sections on pioneering minorities and women architects active before 1970.

The site contains a vast and growing collection of archived publications, both regional and national, including 50 years of NC Architect magazine.

The site maintains an exclusive free statewide list of Modernist houses for sale and has helped at least 200 houses change hands to new caring owners. Through special statewide and national endangerment alerts, NCMH has saved at least six mid-century modernist houses from demolition.

NCMH is frequently cited as a reliable source for journalists and scholars.
