/24-7PressRelease/ -- On Oct. 30, the US Green Building Council (USGBC) of Northern California is having their Green Building Super Heroes Awards Gala where they will be honoring StopWaste.Org for their "Green Building in Alameda County" program. According to the USGBC, StopWaste.Org is being awarded the distinction for their work assisting residents, construction industry professionals, and public agencies with policy and design, greening homes, and the recycling of construction and demolition debris. StopWaste.Org was also instrumental in the development of the GreenPoint Rating system and the implementation of a countywide green retrofit program for existing buildings and landscapes in Alameda County.
StopWaste.Org is scheduled to receive this year's "Community Award" which distinguishes non-profit organizations who have had a "profound impact on expanding the horizons of green building through exemplary programs in community service, education, social equity, policy work or other aspects of developing sustainable communities." Mayor Chuck Reed and Assembly Member Nancy Skinner will present the award to StopWaste.org.
The event is to be held Friday, Oct. 30 from 7-10:30pm at the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco. Other Super Hero award winners include Integrated Design Associates (IDeAs) - Green Groundbreaker Award; The David Brower Center - Green Team Award; Anthony Bernheim - David Gottfried Special Achievement Award.
