DENVER, CO, August 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Oniqua MRO Analytics (www.oniqua.com), the leading provider of analytics-based MRO optimization solutions for asset-intensive organizations, today announced that Vale Fertilizers has chosen Oniqua Analytics Solution (OAS) to optimize its spare parts inventory, reduce operating costs and improve service levels.
Vale Fertilizers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vale S.A., which is the world's leading producer of iron ore, and a major producer of nickel, manganese, aluminum, potassium, copper and coal. Vale implemented OAS across its Brazilian operations in 2010 to support its inventory management initiatives. The successful implementation and operation of OAS at Vale was an important factor in the mining giant's decision to implement OAS at Vale Fertilizers.
"Our exploration projects and expansion of operations will be characterized by constant cost pressures," stated Jessica Cavaleiro, Manager, Stock Planning, Vale Fertilizers. "Maintaining a tight rein on our spare parts inventory is a great opportunity to keep operating costs low, but mitigating the risk of stock-outs of critical spares and improving service levels are also key business drivers. Oniqua has demonstrated at Vale S.A. over the past two years that it excels in addressing all these challenges, which made it a relatively easy decision to select OAS to help us keep costs low without raising the risk of service disruption or downtime."
The implementation of Oniqua Analytics Solution is scheduled to commence in August 2012, and is expected to be fully operational by December 2012.
Vale Fertilizers now operates 14 processing plants across Brazil, is a major producer of potash, and is the biggest producer of phosphate and nitrogen agricultural nutrients in Brazil. Vale Fertilizer's operation in Bayovar, Peru is located on one of the biggest phosphate rock deposits in South America.
"Vale's fertilizer operations have the potential to transform Vale into a leading producer in the market," stated Lindsay Clarke, President of the Americas, Oniqua MRO Analytics. "As Vale continues to conduct mineral fertilizer exploration projects and invest in the expansion of its operations to further its geographical and product diversification, Oniqua will play an integral role in helping Vale optimize its MRO inventory, control costs, minimize the risk of stock outs - all while improving service levels."
Powered by intelligent analytics technology, OAS is the only analytics-based solution of its kind to optimize supply chain and asset management operations across the full range of MRO activities, including equipment performance, maintenance effectiveness, inventory optimization, procurement effectiveness, supplier performance and supply chain effectiveness.
OAS is offered as a hosted solution as well as through an on-premise licensing model.
