/24-7PressRelease/ - OTTAWA, ON, CANADA, February 11, 2006 — Valentine's Day, the lover's holiday, is just around the corner and, according to some surveys, 61-74% of Canadians in a relationship celebrate February 14, or at least hope to. What about the remaining 26-39%?

"Men and women who grumble about Valentine's Day—feeling a sense of obligation to celebrate what they see as another commercial holiday—are completely missing the point, and may want to examine what really lurks behind their "Bah, Humbug!" attitude," states Leona Hamel, Romance Agent. Hamel adds, "Although every day is a reason to appreciate our mate, Valentine's Day serves as a loving reminder to celebrate the "elation" in our love relationship. We made the effort at the beginning of our relationship—to be spontaneous, to have fun, to keep things cooking—why not now?" True lovers know this and live healthier, happier relationships as a result.

"Three of the greatest enemies of love are feeling unappreciated, loneliness and boredom," reports Hamel, a relationship specialist and author. Her prescription: become lovers all over again. And what better day to start than Valentine's Day! "The more you act in love and live in love, the more you'll feel in love," maintains Hamel. Here are some fun, inexpensive gestures of love to help you on your way to recapturing the passion this Valentine's Day:

1. List 25 reasons why you love your partner and include them in a Valentine card to your partner. [Hint: remember the reasons you fell in love with your partner in the first place.]
2. Call your partner's favorite radio station and dedicate a song to him/her.
3. Purchase a package of children's Valentine cards and hide them in your partner's clothes drawer, briefcase, lunch bag, coat pocket, etc.
4. Surprise your partner with breakfast in bed or a candlelight breakfast for two.
5. Install a dimmer to your bathroom light switch. Don't forget the bubble bath, romantic music and rose petals.
