With 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Bump specializes in writing inspirational poetry and short stories. She became involved in her profession because she was motivated by her teachers and attributes her success to the support she received from her mentors. She previously worked in the Minnesota Music Academy for seven years. Ms. Bump released her first audio recording, "Happiness," in 2006, and her first poem was entered and published in a book of scholastic writers in 1984. She considers releasing her audio recording to be the highlight of her career.
A high school graduate with two years of college coursework completed, Ms. Bump published poems through North Hennepin Writers and the League of Minnesota Poets in 1984. She serves as president of the Mississippi Valley Poets, corresponding secretary of the League of Minnesota Poets and former secretary of the Minnesota Music Academy. Affiliated with the National Federation of State Poetry Societies and Chaparral Poets, she volunteers with St. Paul's United Church of Christ and local charitable organizations. She stays current with the trends in her profession by attending seminars and conferences.
