Variations on Breast Augmentation Procedures

When you are considering breast augmentation, your plastic surgeon should offer you a number of options.

TAMPA, FL, January 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When you are considering breast augmentation, your plastic surgeon should offer you a number of options. Traditional breast augmentation options include:

- Implant type - saline or silicone
- Incision location - Transaxillary (in the armpit), periariolar (around the nipple), and inframammary (underneath the breast)
- Implant placement - above the muscles in the chest (subglandular), below the muscles in the chest (submuscular)

In addition, your plastic surgeon will discuss your options for things such as size, shape, and cleavage creation. All of these options are intended to allow your plastic surgeon to tailor your breast augmentation to meet your particular needs and aesthetic desires.

Stem Cell Breast Augmentation

A new variation on breast augmentation is with stem cell-enriched autologous fat, also known as stem cell-assisted lipotransfer. This option does not require incisions or implants, eliminating issues such as scars, implant failure, and many other surgical concerns.

Stem cell augmentation has proven capable of increasing cup size by one-half to two sizes. What this procedure can offer you is best discussed with your plastic surgeon.

For this procedure, stem cells are extracted from autologous fat harvested from your body. To improve the longevity of your augmentation, your plastic surgeon may then choose to have the fat processed or concentrated prior to injecting it into your breasts. However, even unprocessed lipotransfers can produce exceptional results. What's right for your body must be based on your particular needs.

Stem cell breast augmentation may produce results after just one procedure. In other instances you may need two or more refreshment procedures for optimal results. This should be discussed with your plastic surgeon prior to committing to stem cell augmentation.

There are a number of variations available for your breast augmentation procedure. Your plastic surgeon will discuss all of them with you during your initial consultation. Make sure you are working with a board-certified plastic surgeon who will customize your procedure, ensuring you receive the variation most suited to meet you unique needs.
