EL CAJON, CA, December 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- It's the end of an era for a Las Vegas Icon. Vic Velour, who has graced Las Vegas casinos with his presence at least once a year for the past three decades, has announced a change in persona. Beginning with his next trip to Las Vegas, Velour will become Vic Viper.

"Velour served me well in the 80's, 90's and the Oh's," said Viper. He explained, "With a new decade just around the corner, it's time to upgrade the Vegas Visitor aura and become a Viper when I step into a casino."

The Vic Velour years coincided with a boom in Las Vegas casino development. "There is a correlation," said Viper. "Vic Velour left a lot of money behind on his annual trip which began in 1981. Well, a lot of money for Velour. It's amazing how you can stretch your budget when you play $3 craps and hunt for the $1 blackjack tables. The expansion of penny slots really broadened Velour's experience. When I look at the mega-resorts on the strip I know that I played a very small part in getting them built." Match play coupons and discount buffets also helped the former Velour part with his money, all the while looking stylish in his wardrobe that recalled a fashion era that most chose to forget.

"Vic Viper is a serious upgrade," promised the man who once made it his pledge to witness the sunrise after his first night on the town for each Vegas visit. He said, "Viper is stronger, he'll be looking for $5 craps and $5 blackjack. He will kick it up to 5 cent slots and possibly pay the maximum bet. When it comes to drinks, Viper will slide up to the bar and pay $8 for a cocktail that he once got for free by hanging out and looking like he had action at a slot machine. Viper will also move from the buffet lines to restaurants where he can leave a 20% tip instead of the dollar bill Velour would leave for the buffet busboy." The nightlife practices will also change. Viper said, "While Velour would sing Barry Manilow at karaoke bars, Viper will belt out Sinatra and Bacharach tunes."

Vic Viper plans to make his first appearance in Las Vegas on Dec. 28, 2010 with an extended four-day visit booked for the NCAA Basketball Tournament beginning on March 17, 2011.
