Versatile Talent Voices African-American Folktales

The classic book of African-American folktales

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - CINCINNATI, Ohio; February 12, 2005 - The People Could Fly, has been released in a new audiobook featuring the voice talent of Cincinnatian Andrew Barnes. Barnes (The Voiceover Guy) was up to the challenge of creating more than 30 distinct voices for the people, animals, and spirits that populate Virginia Hamilton's book, originally published in 1985 and issued in audio form by Audio Bookshelf, Inc., in January 2005. An ideal project for audio treatment, The People Could Fly captures the oral tradition in African-American history in 24 stirring, compelling, and entertaining tales that culminate in a moving story of slaves flying to freedom. Written in the colloquial, these tales needed a powerful voice to convey their diverse range of emotions—from wit and humor to fantasy, magic, and sometimes fear and brutality across a range of fictional and real-life adventures.

The People Could Fly is the latest in a number of high-profile projects for Andrew Barnes. He has lent his voice to real-life people such as Ray Charles (Brother Ray: Ray Charles' Own Story) and Booker T. Washington (Booker T. Washington National Monument) as well as fictional characters in projects for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and corporations such as Kroger and Key Bank. He brings these diverse characters to life using his deep, compelling voice and extensive background as an actor and singer—from opera to musical theater.

Andrew Barnes is available through his company, The Voiceover Guy LLC (www.thevoiceoverguy.com), and can be contacted at 877-THE-VGUY (877-843-8489).
