/24-7PressRelease/ -- viaRadio Corporation announces the addition of America's Emergency Network (AEN) to its ENVOY Emergency Solutions platform. AEN offers emergency-communications services including a direct-to-the-public, live-video distribution system with satellite redundancy and a satellite-based backup internet and phone system for businesses and government agencies.
In an expansion of the company's ENVOY Emergency Solutions platform, the partnership allows viaRadio clients access to AEN's full range of live video-streaming services. Also, dedicated two-way satellite systems are available in case of telephone or internet outages at critical emergency command centers.
"This new offering gives our clients a two-pronged way to immediately communicate with the public. As our clients send text message instructions and warnings directly to HEARO devices, they can simultaneously hold live news conferences on the emergency event," says Sean Crane, viaRadio vice president. "We're delighted to have a relationship with such a well-respected player in the emergency community."
AEN was designed by Bryan Norcross, former hurricane analyst for the CBS network, and Max Mayfield, former director of the National Hurricane Center, to fill critical gaps in the nation's emergency management communications system.
"Our two companies share a common goal of ensuring that emergency managers have the reliable means to share vital information with the public," says Bryan Norcross, President & CEO of AEN.
Currently, viaRadio's local alert system consists of a network of HEARO radio receivers activated through ENVOY web-based software by client designated administrators. The HEARO receiver displays informational text messages in English and Spanish as well as notifies local residents in an emergency in a matter of seconds. HEARO carries NOAA weather warnings and other public safety text alerts. Using FM radio infrastructure, the viaRadio emergency warning system works even when power, phone and Internet are out. The radios have a 60-hour battery life in case of power outages.
With the addition of AEN resources, viaRadio will stand alone in the immediate emergency communications sector by offering video, radio and cellular channels for citizen outreach.
About America's Emergency Network
A pioneering Internet and satellite-based network, AEN's goal is to be sure that every emergency manager, whether from a large county or a small town, has an outlet to reach the public, the media and other government officials. The AEN satellite-based video distribution system is designed to continue to work after a disaster when all power and communications lines are knocked out. For the first time, emergency managers, other public officials, and businesses have a direct conduit to the public and the media to explain what has happened and how the government is responding. See http://emergency.info for more information. Businesses also benefit from this technology through the always-on, business continuity products AEN offers, making use of satellite connectivity to keep clients online and on the phone when normal systems are down.
