/24-7PressRelease/ -- Vicinity Manufacturing announces today that BoDeans baking group has chosen Vicinity software to streamline business operations in their LeMars, Iowa headquarters. BoDeans Baking Group (BoDeans) manufactures specialty ice cream cones and sandwich wafers to the dairy industry. BoDeans will implement Vicinity and Microsoft Dynamics GP in both their cone and wafer facilities to support the company's continued expansion.
Located in LeMars, Iowa, the self-proclaimed "Ice Cream Capital of the World", BoDeans Cone Company was established in 2000 by Barbara (Bo) and Dean Jacobson. BoDean's 75,000 square foot, food grade processing facility produces more than 500 million novelty ice cream cones annually, marketing to dairy clients across the United States and throughout the world. With the completion of a new 92,000 square foot, food grade processing facility, BoDeans Wafer Company was established in 2006 and began manufacturing wafers for ice cream sandwiches. Presently, the wafer plant has the capacity to annually produce more than 1.5 billion wafers, and with planned future expansion, will have the ability to add additional shifts and baking ovens. BoDean's baking company clients include Well's Dairy, producer of the Blue Bunny ice cream, Schwan's frozen foods, Good Humor ice cream, The Skinny Cow and Dairy Queen .
The baking group is eager to implement the Vicinity software system and anticipates the system to be in operation by early January 2009 according to Angela Kneip, CFO and VP of Administration of BoDeans.
"BoDeans selected the Vicinity solution because of its Microsoft Dynamics GP functionality and out-of -the-box features that offer a comprehensive manufacturing solution without costly customizations," Kneip says. BoDeans selected the Vicinity software system to further automate and enhance their lot tracing and recall capabilities. With Vicinity, BoDeans baking company will have improved material cost planning, real-time inventory visibility, and the ability to track and analyze batch yields at both their cone and wafer facilities. To complete the total business operations systems upgrade, BoDeans will be implementing the Maximum Data Solutions' bar code data collection application to automate the recording of finished goods produced into Vicinity. Maximum Data is an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) within the Microsoft Dynamics Partner channel and a long-time associate of Vicinity Manufacturing. The implementation of Vicinity, along with the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics GP and Maximum Data, all aspects of BoDeans manufacturing and business operations will run in single comprehensive ERP system.
