/24-7PressRelease/ - July 29, 2007 - Philanthropist and real estate professional Janice E. Sullivan pens a remarkable, emotionally charged book on her journey to overcome the effects of an abusive childhood. Cucumbers Have Thorns and Snakes Love Strawberries is a collection of thoughts and memories from the author's mind. While spirituality and survival are the overarching theme, the underlining story is about societal failure, and its effect on the youth, left to live a life filled with sex, crime and betrayal.

As a 5 year-old child, Janice could have never known what mayhem and destruction would come in her life. Riddled by tragedy and death as an adult, she would find herself back in the arms of the man who had taken her virginity at the age of five; a man whose life had been filled with molestation, drugs, murder, and deceit. In her heart, Janice believed the nightly visits paid to her by her cousin were out of love and not the horrible sickness he suffered from.

"My story isn't about blame or confronting the perpetrators, it's about digging deep and recovering and reviving the love, acceptance, and forgiveness buried deep onside me," explains Janice. "It's about being empowered. It's about becoming whole again. The book's purpose is to provide insight, and call to the fore those of us who have ignored the cries of the wounded and often forgotten children. It is not intended to lash out, but yell out to all who will hear"

Cucumbers Have Thorns and Snakes Love Strawberries is scheduled for a September 1, 2007 release and is available for pre-order at http://www.cumcumbershavethorns.com
