"Vincent," a Portrait by Celebrated American Artist Frederick J. Brown Available at Michael H. Lord Gallery, Palm Springs, California

Michael H. Lord Gallery announces the acquisition of a large oil on canvas portrait of Vincent Van Gough by Frederick J. Brown, a painter renown for his vibrant portraits that are alive with energy.

PALM SPRINGS, CA, September 04, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In 1987, "Vincent" (84 x 72 inches) was introduced by Frederick Brown in a New York City show with his other portraits of artists Picasso, de Kooning and Beckmann.

Frederick Brown's paintings are in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary of Art, and the White House.

In 2003 Brown painted a portrait of President Bill Clinton, and the President responded: "I try to express the good will I feel in the work I do, and I think you somehow captured that - for which I'm eternally grateful."

The New Orleans Museum of Art presented Frederick J. Brown: New Portraits of Jazz Greats in early 2009.

The Michael H. Lord, first established in 1978, recently opened its new location in the Palm Springs Uptown Design District at 1090 North Palm Canyon Drive. Located in an architecturally-significant building built in 1929, the 6,000 square foot gallery is the largest in Palm Springs and shows museum-quality contemporary art, which is also available for viewing at the gallery's comprehensive website, www.michaelhlordgallery.com.
