Virginia Eleanore Smith Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Dr. Smith celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Dr. Smith has dedicated 38 years to social work and mental health as a psychologist and educator. She is currently working with her husband in a family tax accounting business. Dr. Smith taught as an adjunct professor for numerous higher learning institutions in the Pennsylvania area, and served for many years as a mental health counselor in many different aspects of society, including prison inmates, chronic patients of AIDS, and the disabled.

Born in 1940 to Valentine A. and Katherine V. Pajer in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Smith married Albert G. Smith in 1961. From 1971 to 1973 she was a Peace Corps volunteer with her husband and four of ultimately five children. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Neumann College in 1978. She served as a medical social worker with the Delaware County Community Nursing Service from 1982 to 1984, when she earned a Master of Science from Drexel University. Dr. Smith went on to serve as a counselor for the Manatee County Mental Health Agency in Bradenton, Florida. In 1990, she set up her private practice and joined Correctional Medical Systems in Wilmington, Delaware.

Dr. Smith has taught at her alma mater, Neumann College, since 2001, and was also an adjunct of Delaware County Community College, Widener University, and Golden Beacon College, as well as an associate director of assessments for Citizens Acting Together Can Help (CATCH) of Philadelphia, a provider of behavioral health and disability services, from 1995 to 2003. From 2004 to 2010, she worked as a mental health counselor with AIDS Delaware in Wilmington, providing mental support to people managing the ravages of HIV, and from 2004-2015, she was an adjunct professor at Pennsylvania State University. She has been certified as a Gestalt Therapist since 1994.

Numerous societies can name Dr. Smith as a member, including the American Sociological Association, the Mental Health Counselors Association, the Association of Humanistic Psychologists, and the American Association for Counseling and Development. For dedication to the practice and education of psychology as well as a generous volunteer spirit, Dr. Smith was selected for inclusion in four volumes of Who's Who in America from 2008 to 2012, three volumes of Who's Who of American Women from 2007 to 2011, the 1993 to 1994 volume of Who's Who in the East, and the 2009 volume of Who's Who in the World. Dr. Smith likes travel, hiking, photography, and writing.
