About Virginia Medical Acute Care (VMAC): Dr. Mark Davis became one of the country's first board certified specialists in Emergency Medicine in 1983. He opened Virginia Medical Acute Care (VMAC) out of his mission to take a general medicine walk-in clinic, and develop a place where the community could receive non-critical urgent and emergency care. Prior to the initiation of this mission, Dr. Davis, worked in Northern VA's busiest emergency department for 15 years. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Davis has continued to promote the concept that top quality emergency and urgent care for non-critical illness and injury can be delivered in a community-based setting. He has also developed innovative cost and timesaving services in the areas of non-surgical injury care and work-related injuries and illnesses. Working alongside Dr. Davis is Dr. Monica Zink, who was born in England, but is proud to claim joint citizenship in the United States. Her career began over 25 years ago as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Zink graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver in 1996 with a MS degree as a Nurse Practitioner and is Board Certified in Family Practice. She finished her education in 2009 with a Doctorate in Advanced Nurse Practice.
