WOODLAND HILLS, CA, December 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/
-- As the president, CEO, and founder of Codeblack Enterprises, Jeff Clanagan has been celebrated as a visionary in the entertainment industry for his work over the past two decades. He confidently forged new growth in this market and he has achieved unprecedented success as a result. Most recently, he released "Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain," which grossed more than $32 million in theaters.
In 2012, Codeblack Enterprises formed a groundbreaking partnership with Lionsgate Entertainment, which is currently the most commercially successful independent film and television distribution company in North America. This partnership grants the entertainment giant access to Mr. Clanagan's years of industry experience and expertise in feature films, television programming, comedy specials, and digital content. Steven Beeks, co-COO of Lionsgate and president of the Motion Picture Group, describes Mr. Clanagan as "one of the true visionaries in urban media today."
The reasons for Codeblack's success are largely due to Mr. Clanagan's insight into the trillion-dollar African American consumer market, which had previously gone largely untapped by the entertainment industry. Rather than simply accept the status quo of the industry, Mr. Clanagan saw an opportunity to serve the African-American community by producing media specifically targeted towards this evolving market. By partnering with established African-American celebrities, including Shaquille O'Neal and comedian Kevin Hart, Codeblack continues to establish its reputation as a premiere entertainment business.
Aiding Codeblack in its mission are Mr. Clanagan's signature marketing techniques. These methods saw significant success in 2011, when Codeblack released the highly successful comedy film, "Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain." The film grossed an average of $20,000 per theater, which was unheard of at the time for an independently produced and distributed film.
A seasoned expert, Mr. Clanagan cut his teeth in the entertainment industry by working as a concert promoter for such acclaimed individuals and groups as Run DMC, LL Cool J, The Isley Brothers, MC Hammer, and Luther Vandross. From there, he took a more managerial role, holding positions as the president of several entertainment companies, most notably Master P's No Limit Films, and UrbanWorks Entertainment.
With a background in the music industry, 25 years of experience and a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Washington, Mr. Clanagan oversees all business functions for CodeBlack, including marketing, branding, talent development and film distribution. In the coming years, he would like to introduce gaming, software and mobile apps into his company's offerings. He is currently enrolled at Harvard Business School, in the prestigious executive management program. He has been profiled in "The New York Times," "The L.A. Times," "GQ" magazine, and "VIBE" magazine.
