/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Northern Norway Postcard Models competition, which was hosted on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/postcardmodels), advertised on the London underground and in UK print publications, attracted over 3,500 photo submissions and 11,000 votes from May to July 2010.
The four UK outdoors enthusiasts are travelling to Northern Norway throughout August to take part in photo-shoots in stunning locations. The resulting set of postcards will be on sale throughout the region in 2011.
Catherine Foster, Country Manager, Visit Norway UK said: "Our winning Postcard Models were picked from 10 finalists who achieved 10 or more 'Likes' and demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the great outdoors and taking part in out photo shoot. We were on the hunt for individuals with vibrant personalities and active lifestyles - ordinary people seeking extraordinary adventure - and we are really pleased with our final selection."
Northern Norway's new postcard models are:
Outdoors girl Carrie Daniels (27) who grew up in Aberdeen is now living in London. She is passionate about horse riding and scuba diving and loves Norwegian culture.
Athletic Francis Shestone is a 26 year-old Londoner originally from the rural North of England. His numerous adventure hobbies include canyoning, mountain biking, fishing, running, swimming, hiking and surfing.
Trish Richardson a 49 year-old fitness instructor from Lewes, East Sussex and an adventure enthusiast with a love of the outdoors. Trish and her fiance Prof also raise money for local charities as members of the Lewes Commercial Square Bonfire Society.
Outgoing Jude Healey (49) is a community worker and from Middlesbrough and huge Leeds United Football Club fan.
The winning Norway Postcard Models are being photographed in four distinctive Northern Norway locations: Finnmark known as the Norwegian Lapland where a shoot will include the colourful Sami nomadic people; Tromsų where images will be shot on a glacier and aboard a sea cruise; the coastal region of Nordland and the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.
The models will be updating both the Visit Norway and Postcard Model Facebook pages with diary entries and images of their trips throughout August and September 2010. Please visit http://www.facebook.com/visitnorwayuk and http://www.facebook.com/postcardmodels to follow their updates.
