Voices Of Tomorrow: Cantors From Broadway To Bimah, comes exclusively to Las Vegas,
presented by the LV Jewish Center for Education, Media & the Arts at the new Congregation Ner Tamid, in Henderson.
"These cantors, and cantors in training, are remarkable talents... gifted performers who heeded a spiritual calling and traded life on the stage for a lifetime role on the bimah," reflected Rabbi Yocheved Mintz, spiritual leader for Valley Outreach Synagogue and a managing director of the Las Vegas Jewish Center for Education, Media & the Arts. "Their stories are truly amazing."
Lorna Lembeck lived a successful career as a singer and actress. She played the singing stewardess in Airplane, starred as television's Private Benjamin and has countless film, TV and stage credits. Now, Lembeck has given up callbacks for a calling, as cantorial intern at the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue, and Cantor for the Creative Arts Temple in West LA.
Las Vegas Cantor Daniel Eli Friedman built an impressive career, with roles in Cats and Les Miserables on Broadway. He gave up the greasepaint to become a Cantor, serving as Temple Beth Sholom's voice of musical prayer for six years.
Along with Lembeck and Friedman, Voices Of Tomorrow will feature talented cantorial students from the Academy for Jewish Religion in California, cantorial soloists from across the Vegas Valley, the combined Jewish children's choirs of Las Vegas, and special guest Cantor Nate Lam, renowned Chazzan of the Stephen S. Wise Congregation in Los Angeles.
