CARLSBAD, CA, January 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the midst of Healthy Weight Week, businesses such as San Diego-based VQ ActionCare are taking note. Developer of the patented, award-winning, at-home exercise system for mature adults, the Resistance Chair , VQ ActionCare sees Healthy Weight Week as a simple reminder of the weight loss and maintenance successes its customers experience year-round.

"New Year's resolutions come and go, but the Resistance Chair truly changes lives!" said Andrew Siminoff, Media Director at VQ ActionCare.

A Personal Story:
At 73 years old, Louise Geary Crawford of Georgia was told by her doctor that losing weight just wasn't a possibility at her age. It wasn't that Louise just wanted to be thin; she longed for flexibility and more energy to keep up with her three careers as an ICU nurse, a real estate agent, and the owner of the health foods store, Apple A Day. She wanted to be able to walk properties with her real estate clients and prove to her customers at the health food store that proper diet and exercise can keep you fit and healthy.

Despite an already balanced diet, Louise decided to try several diet programs. They didn't make a difference. She used dumbbells. No change there. Louise finally turned to a product she saw on TV: the Resistance Chair . Four months and 46 pounds later, Louise admits "it was not difficult" to lose the weight. She notes that resistance training has been neglected and, for most women, it's really the key in sculpting the body and losing weight.

Louise has not only lost nearly 50 pounds, she's also lowered her cholesterol by 20 points and improved her bone density levels. "The Resistance Exercise is the best thing to take off weight, and it's great for the cardiovascular and respiratory system. I have more energy and my pants are almost falling off of me now!"

A Winning Entry:
According to the American Diabetes Association, an estimated 57 million people are at risk of diabetes. In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of exercise in the prevention of diabetes, VQ ActionCare hosted a giveaway contest in November in honor of American Diabetes Month. Dozens of consumers wrote in to VQ ActionCare describing why they or a loved one deserve a Resistance Chair , the patented, low-impact exercise system designed to help mature adults improve strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.

After reviewing the multitude of entries, the VQ ActionCare team selected the entry from Lance Batchelder for his wife, Andrea. She noted, "Due to a serious back injury that has left me unable to walk or stand for any length of time, I've been frustrated in my inability to achieve even the most modest fitness goals. Hopefully with the Resistance Chair , I will be able to improve the condition of my back and achieve a weight loss goal of at least 50 pounds. This is a blessing to our entire family."

The Batchelder's were awarded a Resistance Chair (a $239.70 value) and an instructional DVD to guide them through a wide range of stretching and strength exercises.

The Resistance Chair , winner of the 2009 ShapeYou.com "Great Gear of the Year" award, is a complete at-home fitness and rehabilitation system specifically created for the senior adult to improve strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. Designed to offer a wide range of exercises from a safe, seated position, the Resistance Chair helps keep senior adults active and healthy, or accelerate post-op rehabilitation process.
