Was There a Book Under the Tree?
If you've shared a book with a child, you know the joy and excitement this small but meaningful act can bring. Did you keep that in mind when selecting your Holiday gifts? If not, start the new year out right, buy a book, visit a library, or share one from your bookshelves with a child.

/24-7PressRelease/ - ALEXANDRIA, VA, December 22, 2007 - Although reading daily with a child requires parents, brothers and sisters, and other caring adults to add another task to their many daily tasks, but by doing this, you and your child will get great rewards:
- Children who are read to at home have a higher success rate in school.
- Children who read frequently develop stronger reading skills.
- Reading together helps grow the bond between family members

To address our diverse and multicultural community, get children excited about reading and encourage more adults to spend time reading with their children, visit the Color Book Gallery online or in Historic Occoquan, Virginia for a wide selection of exciting children's books. Ms. Deborah Gary, the store owner, will be relocating to Pennsylvania this Spring and everything in the store is on sale until the store closes. This is the perfect time to stock up on multicultural children's books.

Ms. Gary is concerned that leaving the Washington DC area will leave a void for those parents that are looking for more books. With the recent closing of a mainstay in children's books, A Likely Story in Old Town Alexandria, there will not be a children's bookstore along the coast of Northern Virginia, from Alexandria City down to Fredericksburg. Big Box retailers do have children's books, but the selection and intimacy found at specialty stores will always be needed. If you are willing to take on this challenge, give her a call.
