Wayne, NJ Veterinarian Invites Pet Owners to Participate in Community Event

Veterinarians in Oakland, NJ at Oakland Animal Hospital urge pet owners to remember forgotten pets during the holidays.



    OAKLAND, NJ, November 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leading Wayne, NJ veterinarians at Oakland Animal Hospital remain involved in their local community through the creation of a community outreach program for forgotten pets this holiday season. Dr. Robert Gordon established Food for Fido to create a way to supply food, toys and supplies to pets living with Meals on Wheels recipients.

"During the holidays it is important to remember some of the forgotten pets. With the help of our community, stores and groomers we can provide food, toys and supplies to benefit the pets living with Meals on Wheels recipients in Bergen and Passaic counties," said Dr. Robert Gordon, veterinarian providing medical boarding in Oakland, NJ.

Food for Fido works in conjunction with Meals on Wheels, which allows Oakland Animal Hospital to deliver food and toys to over 175 animal companions of Meals on Wheels recipients. These animals offer unconditional love and loyalty to their owners, and thanks to the donations collected at area pet stores and groomers, they receive the gratitude they deserve.

Over the past years, Oakland Animal Hospital's Food for Fido program has raised donations of food, toys and supplies estimating as much as 2,000 pounds for the benefit of the pets living with Meals on Wheels recipients in Bergen and Passaic counties in New Jersey. Oakland Animal Hospital, veterinarians also providing medical boarding in Wayne, NJ, is celebrating the strong human-animal bond and the special significance the pets have in the lives of the seniors who can't get out to supply and feed themselves.
