/24-7PressRelease/ -- Web launching of Boston based non-profit Care Sessions Human Hair Foundation provides real hair, lace-front wigs to financially deprived women and children who suffer from medical related hair loss and helps them regain vital self-confidence.
Care Sessions Human Hair Foundation is a local Boston based non-profit organization that obtains human hair from India, Russia, China and Brazil in order to create high quality, customized, lace-front, 100% human hair cranial prostheses (wigs). These are then donated to individuals who suffer from cancer, burns, alopecia and other debilitating illnesses that result in catastrophic hair loss. These custom measured and precisely designed prostheses are free of charge or priced on a sliding scale for individuals who qualify.
"My Aunt Mattie was diagnosed with uterine cancer early this year. Care Sessions was established because I realized that the majority of donated wigs are not flattering. They are also made of synthetic materials that are extremely uncomfortable, usually do not fit patients properly and are not environmentally friendly", says Tammi McBrayer, founder of Care Sessions and co-owner of Hair Sessions, Inc. at Anthony Pino Salon on Newbury St. Tammi has been a successful hairstylist and entrepreneur for nearly twenty years.
Tammi and her husband Lance used personal savings to fund their desire to help woman and children gain a sense of normalcy when they first started donating lace-front prostheses. Tammi then decided to start a foundation so that their gifts could be spread to more patients. Care Sessions Human Hair Foundation, Inc. was established in November, 2008.
Care Sessions is based on the theory that when people look good they have a tendency to feel good. That's why Care Sessions makes a perfect partner with the American Cancer Society (ACS) with whom they work with. Tammi and Lance also volunteer their time with ACS's Look Good Feel Better Program. "Studies show that having someone to talk to and a great cranial prosthesis can reduce stress, boost self-esteem and helps people both mentally and physically", says Tammi. She adds, "Donating such a great high quality product that has a natural looking hair line as an alternative to the normal "wig" is the best feeling I can have as a professional hairstylist. Finally, I can help severe hair loss victims young and old to feel great about themselves!"
