/24-7PressRelease/ - September 05, 2007 - http://www.literary-quotations.com, a website launched just two months ago, today announced an initiative to build an exhaustive catalog of annotated quotations from the greatest works of world literature. "This won't be just another quotations website," says webmaster Baudelaire Jones. "Most of the other quotations sites you find online offer quotes and attribute them to some author, but they don't source them. You have no idea where the quote actually came from. And to make it worse, their attribution often turns out to be incorrect. You're taking a real chance when you attribute a quote in your article or research paper based on the information provided by most of these sites."

Every quote on the Literary Quotations website will be sourced and categorized by author, subject, and source. "If you find a quotation on our site," says Jones, "You'll know exactly where it came from--you'll be able to identify not only the author, but the original source material."

Another problem with most quotation websites, according to Jones, is a lack of diversity. "You see the same quotes over and over," he says. "It's almost as if these websites cannibalize each other for quotes, as if they copy each other until they're practically identical, or at the very least get their content from the same offline collections of quotes." Not so at Literary Quotations, he insists. "We go back to the source. If we're making a page of quotes from The Brothers Karamazov, we go back and read that novel. We look for quotable passages and insightful observations. You'll find quotations on our website that you won't find anywhere else."

Judging by early results, users seem to appreciate this unique approach. According to Yahoo! Site Explorer, the Literary Quotations website already has 847 backlinks pointing to its domain. "That's unprecedented for a site this new," says Jones.

http://www.literary-quotations.com offers quotations on hundreds of subjects including love, war, death, and marriage.

http://www.literary-quotations.com is a website dedicated to building a comprehensive database of annotated quotations from the great works of literature. Literary Quotations has been online since June 2007.
