- April 12, 2007 - FidoFinder.com has been nominated by The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, for the Best Services Website of 2007. FidoFinder.com [http://www.fidofinder.com] is an Internet Website that reunites lost dogs with their owners. Fido Finder's continuing success has put it in the spotlight once again, this time by the world's largest Website awards organization. Fido Finder founder Wes Cutshall says, "It's an honor to be a nominee for The Webby Award. Recently, Eleanor Pereau of California experienced firsthand the power of Fido Finder's online community. When her beloved Siberian Husky, Kodiak, went missing, she pursued all avenues to find him. Eleanor began her search by posting more than 70 lost dog flyers, only to have city workers remove every one of them. Eleanor was then forced to look for another way to get the word out about her missing dog. As in the case of hundreds of lost dogs before Kodiak, FidoFinder.com was the solution that reunited Eleanor with her lost dog. "Your one ad did what 70 flyers couldn't do," Pereau told Fido Finder. Miles from the Pereau family home, the Garcia family found Kodiak wandering a local park. In the search for Kodiak's owner, the Garcia family visited FidoFinder.com and found a lost-dog listing that matched the description of the dog they had found. The Garcia family contacted Pereau through Fido Finder. Soon after, pet and owner were reunited and Eleanor was singing the praises of the Internet Website. "In less than 24 hours from posting our ad with Fido Finder, our Kodiak is back home," said Pereau.
It is success stories like this that have elevated Fido Finder into the upper echelon of Websites which are honored by The Webby Awards. Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video, and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser. The 11th Annual Webby Awards received a record 8,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Winners of the Webby Awards will be announced on May 1, 2007 and honored at The 11th Annual Webby Awards Gala in New York City on June 5th.
