Destination Wedding Travel Agency" for the UK at the Sandals Travel Agency Recognition (S.T.A.R) awards on December 10 in the Bahamas, attended by 250 agents from across Canada, USA and the UK. The award was based on the volume of sales achieved over the past 12 months.
White Sand Weddings MD Mark Bell comments, "It's a fantastic honour to be chosen by Sandals as the top wedding travel agency in the UK. 2008 has been an incredibly successful year for us, even with the recession."
The ABTA- and ATOL-insured agency, a member of the Freedom Travel Group and based in Tonbridge, Kent, is an independent company specialising in
weddings abroad for UK couples. Most popular destinations include Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua & Mauritius, with the USA, Pacific Islands and Australia also served.
Mr. Bell continues: "We're doing well partly because of the recession. The average wedding in the UK these days costs 20,000, which is very difficult to afford. We can give our customers the wedding of their dreams for an average of 5,000. That price difference, along with the warm weather and beaches, have meant the number of enquiries we've had has shot up since 2007."
