/24-7PressRelease/ - SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 09, 2008 - Madeleine Castaing, a documentary film that explores the personality and influence of the French decorator and antique dealer. The film celebrates Castaing's neoclassical taste in decor and her glamorous appearance even into her 90s. The film reintroduces her taste for Napoleon III furnishings and 18th century English furniture to collectors of art and design.

About Madeleine Castaing
Madeleine Castaing (1894-1992) was a prominent antiquaire and interior decorator in Paris for more than fifty years. She and her husband Marcellin were key members of the artistic community of Montparnasse in the 1920s and 30s, and became friends with writers, musicians and artists. Among those artists Castaing was closest to was Chaim Soutine. Soutine was a frequent houseguest at the Castaing country home in Lèves. Soutine's 1929 portrait of Madeleine is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum.
