JEANNETTE, PA, August 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Westmoreland Aviation welcomed their youngest student to their flight school today, as 9-year-old Kyle Piper took flight!

Westmoreland Aviation instructor Bob Yaley took Kyle up for a one-hour lesson at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, and the 9-year-old passed with flying colors.

"He didn't have any fear, even as we climbed to 4,000 feet," Mr. Yaley said. "He really enjoyed himself, and that was just as rewarding for me and the flight school as it was for Kyle. We got into this business so we could share the joys of flight with others."

The flight school has continued the tradition of teaching at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and has been accepting students as Westmoreland Aviation since the summer of 2009, but never had a pupil younger than 9 before Kyle took to the sky. The lesson was a birthday present to Kyle from his aunt, Heather Piper.

"We were more than happy to help Kyle's birthday one he will never forget," Westmoreland Aviation co-founder JT Spangler said. "Hopefully Kyle's experience will show others that anyone who wants to learn to fly can. Whether you're 9 years old or 90, we are more than happy to share the unique gift of flight with those who are willing."

They might not know it yet, but Mr. Spangler and Westmoreland Aviation might see an influx of young flyers if Kyle has anything to do with it. He plans on letting every one he knows about his memorable experience, especially his classmates.

"I can't wait to tell my friends at school I flew a plane," Kyle said after his flight. "I bet I'll be the only one in my class that's done that!"
