Founded in 2007, the World Freerunning Parkour Federation (www.wfpf.com
) is the leading international organization for the sport of Parkour, representing 50 of the world's top athletes. With a network of affiliates and members in over 65 countries, WFPF continues to serve the needs of the global Parkour community, providing products, services and leadership in an effort to advance Parkour/Freerunning in a safe and responsible manner. WFPF created and produced the first Parkour TV series, MTV's ULTIMATE PARKOUR CHALLENGE, which to date is the most watched Parkour event in history with over 3.5 millions viewers. WFPF's sister organization USA Parkour (www.USAParkour.org
) and WFPF's elite athlete partners, created the only Parkour Teacher Certification backed by a major insurance underwriter which has certified over 450 Parkour teachers, qualifying them to teach at any of the 57 and counting USA Parkour gyms around the United States. In September 2015, USAP College and WFPF sponsored and sanctioned the first-ever collegiate Parkour competition at U.W. Platteville, with over 30 athletes from 6 USA Parkour college clubs participating. In 2014, WFPF created "Lady WFPF", a women-only group, run by and for female Parkour athletes to address their unique needs and interests.
WFPF co-founder David Richard Thompson had this to day, "We're so pleased at the response of the world community to this event, so many incredible athletes coming from all over the world to participate. These athletes are the ones who have worked hard to create Parkour as we know it, at the grass roots level."
And from WFPF co-founder Victor Bevine, "We feel that this is a really important step for Parkour, being showcased at a venue like the Mandalay Bay, in the company of other established sports. It's about time these amazing athletes get the attention they deserve."
Through Parkour, WFPF is excited to show in this world class location that "The Obstacle IS the Path!". LIVE stream for the event will be on WFPF's Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/worldfpf
