Icelandic energy to be used for data centres
In an important change in policy, the Icelandic national power company has decided not to negotiate with the aluminium industry over future energy sales, but instead will concentrate on data centres and silicon production for solar cells.

Flu cure found in the elderberry
Research into the black elderberry, a common wild plant in the Northern Hemisphere, has shown it to be highly effective against both Type A and B of the flu virus. A new elderberry flu remedy has been released in Europe after successful clinical trials in Israel.

Bird flu outbreak in the UK
The second outbreak this year of the highly-contagious H5N1 bird flu virus on a Suffolk farm in the UK was confirmed this week. Up to 30,000 poultry have been culled as a precaution, including many turkeys which were being prepared for the Christmas market.

Iceland Express rebranded
The five year old Icelandic airline has turned from blue and green to orange and black as part of a corporate rebranding exercise to portray the airline as a more mature competitor on its sixteen routes to Europe.
