PHOENIX, AZ, December 29, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every woman has unique needs and different aesthetic desires. There is no one-size-fits-all procedure, and no single age at which different plastic surgery procedures are best for each individual. Breast augmentation will increase the size of your breasts. It can also be used to improve symmetry, shape, and the general dimensions of your chest. If you are an adult and unhappy with the appearance of your breasts for any reason, now may very well be the best age for breast augmentation.

Breast Augmentation Considerations

While breast augmentation is available to good candidates who are over the age of 18, you should bear in mind that your breasts may continue to develop into your lower to mid-twenties. To ensure limited interference with continuing development, only saline breast implants are available to women under the age of 22.

Saline implants may not look and feel as natural as their silicone alternatives. In addition, saline implants are more likely to develop aesthetic imperfections such as rippling and wrinkling. Some women choose to wait until they are over the age of 22 for breast augmentation to expand their implant options.

Factors such as pregnancy and nursing can impact the size, shape, and volume of your breasts. While there is generally little danger associated with implants placed prior to pregnancy and certain breast augmentation options can reduce interference with breastfeeding, some women choose to put augmentation off until after they have had children. This is a personal choice, but should be discussed with your plastic surgeon prior to committing to the procedure.

When you meet with your breast surgeon, be honest about your aesthetic desires, reasons for wanting breast augmentation, and future plans. Your plastic surgeon will take these things into account, assess your frame and current level of breast development, and help you determine if breast augmentation is right for you at this time in your life.
