ATLANTA, GA July 31, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What's Up Interactive has launched a comprehensive Web site redesign for Road Safe America, http://www.roadsafeamerica.org," which the non-profit will use to interact with the public to advance its mission of making our highways safer by reducing the number of collisions between heavy commercial trucks and passenger vehicles.

Road Safe America, which works to educate the driving public on how it can safely share the road with those heavy commercial trucks, funded the website redesign with a monetary award it received from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation for Road Safe America's community service work.

"Road Safe America came to us to design a site that would raise awareness, create an informed community and have a compelling call-to-action," said What's Up CEO Richard Warner. "They want their site to be a catalyst for positive change when it comes to making our highways safe places to travel. Part of our mission was to craft and build a site that lets Road Safe America articulate its message effectively so visitors can become part of the solution."

What's Up's strategy for this project included developing a straightforward graphic representation of the main calls to action for the site: an E-Petition campaign; E-Newsletter sign-ups (for the first time); and opportunities to engage the site visitor in a fun quiz where they can learn some amazing facts about conditions on America's highways. Within the first week after launch, the organization had a 93% conversion to their petition call-to-action, and a 12% conversion to their E-Newsletter sign-up.

"We were thrilled to use the funds awarded to us by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation to contract with What's Up to overhaul our site and build in an electronic petition visitors can sign," said Road Safe America co-founder Steve Owings. "One of the things we hoped to achieve with the redesign was to make the site more user-friendly and interactive. We're hoping the petition will help us to educate the White House and Congress about what other technologically advanced countries have already done concerning road safety and let them know the American people are demanding that we catch up."

About Road Safe America
Road Safe America is dedicated to making our highways safer. We feel that the number of crashes between heavy commercial trucks and passenger vehicles is not only horrendously high, but rather simply improved. We encourage the use of speed governors that limit the maximum speed these trucks can travel to 65 mph. We also encourage the use of Electronic On-Board Recorders (black boxes) and all other forms of technology which could make the heavy truck a safer vehicle with which to share the road. Road Safe America is not anti-trucking. We feel that the average trucker is both underpaid and overworked. We believe that this is unsafe and immoral.
