SOMERSET, MA, December 4, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Whitney Easton Horton, Manager and Owner of Horton's Gym Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of health and fitness.

As owner, Mr. Horton is responsible for training clients in body building, sports specific training, promoting general wellness, supervising staff, marketing and bookkeeping. He began his career at Somerset High School where he was responsible for teaching physical education to 9th through 12th grade students. He also served as the Athletic Director for 10 of his 35 years and was honored by the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association with the Massachusetts Athletic Director of the Year Award in 2006. He became involved in the fitness industry because of his love for promoting physical fitness. He attributes his success to his ability to help students and adults lead healthy lives.

Mr. Horton served on several state committees as Athletic Director and was honored with the President's Award of Merit by his association. Mr. Horton was also selected as Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2001 by the Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association as well as the Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2004. He has a Level II certification with the Bigger, Faster, Stronger Organization along with a personal trainers certification with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Mr. Horton received his Master's Degree in Health Education from Bridgewater State College in 1980 and his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Springfield College in 1970.
