Wild Women Unite helps women acquire outdoor life skills that they perhaps wanted to try, but didn't have the opportunity in a relaxed, non-intimidating setting.

BUFFALO, NY, September 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- There's no doubt Buffalo is having a renaissance and Western New York has been enjoying plenty of positive recognition this summer. From filming for the Ninja Turtles movie to water bicycling in the harbor, to Silo City and Blues Festivals, Buffalo is blooming with vibrancy. Rare concert stops from The Rolling Stones and a sold-out-in-five-minutes concert coming from Sir Paul McCartney, Western New York is finally doing it right.

Come fall, there is another event taking place in Western New York; an adult weekend camp for women, called Wild Women Unite, and Buffalo will be the flagship location.

The idea is bringing women together, in nature, and providing a safe, fun way to try new outdoor activities. All the activities, equipment and resources are brought to one location.

Workshops are taught at a beginner level, so nobody feels awkward.

The event is limited to 500 women 16 and over, who select 4 workshops from over 20 offered, all taught by credentialed instructors in their respective fields.

Sponsored in part by Cabela's, who is teaching archery and fly/spin fishing, and New York State Parks and Recreation, teaching Kayaking, Geocaching and Wild Edibles, some other workshops offered include horseback riding, self-defense, outdoor painting, meditation, 'tapping your intuition,' 'Happy Camp: how to stress less and laugh more,' Zentangle, Hoola-Hooping, photography, yoga, shooting guns, and participating in a drum circle.

Suzanne Suchan is the Site Director for the Buffalo area. "It's a natural and holistic approach for a healthier living and lifestyle," Ms. Suchan says. "Wild Women Unite helps women acquire outdoor life skills that they perhaps wanted to try, but didn't have the opportunity in a relaxed, non-intimidating setting. It's the type of event that creates special bonds between the gals."

"Several of the women sign up for what they sampled and will enjoy that activity and experience for a long time to come."

The originator of Wild Women Unite, Yvonne Folck, has relocated to Florida, and is hosting her own Wild Women Unite event there, once a location is confirmed.

Ms. Folck is working with several people and businesses to create events and sponsorship opportunities in other cities across America. Alabama will be hosting an event at the 4-H November 13-14.

2016 events are in the works for Bastrop TX, Washington DC, Charlotte NC, and unconfirmed locations in Florida, Oregon, and California.

Corporate packages are being offered at a discounted rate to encourage team-building. It's also very popular for Moms and their daughters, and have also included Grandmothers and Aunts.

Ms. Suchan was in a 22 year severely abusive marriage and since breaking free in 2007, she founded Love Shouldn't Hurt, Inc., a 501(c)3 which advocates for and supports men and women impacted by domestic violence.

Wild Women Unite has selected Love Shouldn't Hurt as their national charity partner; and since, has become the charity's primary source of funding.

Ms. Suchan is also a motivational speaker and is teaching 'Happy Camp' at all of the locations nationwide. "I want to share how even someone like me who was being broken and held down, can still look up, have hope, smile and make advances toward a brighter, happier life and outcome! Let it go and Laugh it off! My life totally rocks today!"

The location for this year's event in Western New York will be Grand Island, where it was held last year in Beaver Island State Park.

Despite sporadic downpours at last year's event, the 200 women who participated toughed their way through the weekend, having felt a greater sense of accomplishment once all was said and done, over amusing comparing of notes, dinner, campfire and drinks. A rainbow even managed to appear.

Buffalo's event will take place October 2-3, 2015 and registration is now open.

Friday October 2 is a 'Healthy Wild Woman Expo' featuring vendors, Buffalo Healthy Living Magazine, speakers Paula Greene D'Amico (Blessings By Nature) and Master Life Coach Linda Bucher, and a cash bar.

After the workshops on Saturday, October 3, the ladies will enjoy a BBQ, campfire, S'mores, live music from Melody Marie of Surrender Reality, and drinks.

Ticket prices are an affordable $199.

Lodging options at Byblos Resorts and Branches Campgrounds are available (additional cost) for a discounted 'Wild Women' rate.
