ORLANDO, FL, May 15, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Progressive Rising Phoenix Press is proud to announce the release of King's Ransom by Award-Winning Author William Speir. The novel, full of action and intrigue, won the Royal Palm Literary Award for Historical Fiction. True to the historical fiction category, it's rooted in history, but readers will be thrilled with Speir's modern-day mystery that drives the plot. Pirates, Officers, wars and Queens, the book offers a story line that will appeal to a wide audience.

In the days leading up to the War of Spanish Succession a frigate from England's Navy is dispatched on a secret mission to the Americas. The Captain's orders are simple: stop the French and Spanish treasure fleets from reaching Europe and funding the coming war against England. How he is commanded to carry out those orders, however, is something no English Naval Officer had ever been ordered to do.

Captain Henry (Harry) Hastings is one of the youngest captains in King William III'S navy, is ordered to disguise himself and his crew as pirates and to sink or capture as many French and Spanish treasure ships in the Americas. Key, make it appear as if England isn't behind the attacks. Harry has to find a way to carry out his orders, avoid capture, and prevent France and Spain from discovering that he's not really a pirate at all. Is this possible? The consequence of capture constantly on his mind, what will Captain Henry do? A campaign of terror, theft, and destruction that leaves the Spanish colonial governors begging for help from Spain is about to unfold.
